Shibi vs Sibir
[edit]In the literature the name is spelled Sibir, restored from the Chinese phonetical transcription, and consistent with the naming of the Sibir people in the western sources. Any objections to renaming “Shibi” to “Sibir”,in accordance with WP naming conventions? Barefact (talk) 07:21, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
Yes i object because that its not at all clear, that the Chinese phonetical is spelling sibir, but propably close (Shiban, genghish khans son) shipar/shipir/shapar, but refering to the Sabir/Sabar/Sapar/Savar people?, though etomolgy may be related since it can mean rider/roamer.
However these turkish names taken from chinese is all over the place, and if Shibi khans son Shibobi khan is phoneticaly restorted to turkish Töles qaγan (???) then both cant be right. Any case, it can equally refer to the meaning "rider/roamer" as it can the sabir people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bennanak88 (talk • contribs) 14:00, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
